Top FAQs

Q
When Should I Have My System Turned On?
Timing will depend on weather conditions, but typically we begin scheduling Turn Ons for the beginning of April. This does not necessarily mean that your system is watering the lawn! It simply allows us time to run through your system thoroughly and make any adjustments or repairs needed before the watering season begins. If the weather is not conducive for watering quite yet, we then will set your controller to “Off” and when it’s time to use your system, simply turn the system to “On”.

Q
When Should I Have My System Turned Off?
Watering needs change and are different for everyone. If you have established turf and plants, we can turn your system off starting towards the end of September. If you’re planting new grass or plants in the Fall, we can set the system to for ideal watering times and turn off the system towards the end of October. We recommend that you have your system shut off by the beginning of December.

Q
How do you determine the number of sprinkler heads in a zone?
Each irrigation system is designed in zones based on the pressure (PSI) and velocity (GPM) that is available on the property. The type of sprinkler head used will also affect the design.

Q
Is a well required to install an irrigation system?
It may be! These towns currently require a well in order to be able to install a new irrigation system: Hanson, Braintree, Pembroke, Kingston, Scituate

Q
Do you offer Wi-Fi / Smart Controllers?
Yes. Many customers find these useful for the ability to control the system from a remote location. They are also popular for their water saving abilities, system alerts, and water adjustments based on local weather forecasting. These can be added at the time of installation or to existing systems.

Q
What is the best time of year to install an irrigation system?
We can install a new system at any point in the year, as long as the ground is not frozen and air temperature is above freezing. Ideally, it is best to install the irrigation system prior to installing a new lawn.

Q
Can I start a fertilizer program mid-season?
Yes of course, but there are some drawbacks. The best way to prevent weeds is to start the program in early spring. Starting later in the program, will allow the existing turf to strengthen it’s roots for the fall growing season. Some weeds can be sprayed and killed, but others such as Crabgrass will take an additional season.

Q
Do you offer Organic Fertilizer?
Yes we do! The program is strictly a feeding for the lawn, there is no weed or pest control. The weed and pest control is available with our regular synthetic program.

Q
I'm on a well supply, does that make a difference?
Yes. It would need to be determined if the water supply from the well is sufficient to run the system. Other factors to consider are iron content and debris, which would a require filter system or chemical solution.

Q
How long does it take to install a new irrigation system?
Although each install will vary depending on the size and scope of the system, we allow about 3-4 days for the average install.

Q
My system is off, but the sprinkler heads seem to be leaking. What should I do?
Depending on the contour of the land, residual water in the lines will flow out of the lowest point. If the head continues to leak after a few hours, the valve may need to be flushed. Call us to schedule a service appointment.

Q
My sprinklers won't turn off, what should I do?
Typically valve could be stuck in an open position or there may be an error in the controller or timer settings. First, check the controller and turn the system off. If this does not solve the problem, find the water shut off and close it. Call us immediately to schedule a repair.
